Family Photographer

Some of my most special clients are families. There are many clients that I have taken pictures of for years and gotten the joy of seeing how their families have grown and changed. Every family is different and have different personalities. This is why I think it is important to capture family images that are not just smiling at the camera but tell the story of the wide range of personalities behind those smiles. I use my professional equipment and knowledge of lighting to make your family look their best, while never losing focus on who they are. Sessions are filled with posing tips, jokes, exploring,family games and you may even see me act a little silly to get those real smiles. Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled for early morning hours or in the last few hours before sunset to benefit from the best available light. I can also happily work with you to capture a specific theme or stylized shoot of your family. 

Lifestyle family pictures AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

My family portrait photography is a mix of lifestyle photography and portrait photography.  Portrait photography is a style of more straight forward portraits where the subject is posed and looking at the camera. Lifestyle portraits are more candid moments that capture your family as they interact with each other; goofy faces, laughs, and sharing moments that tell the story of your life together. Lifestyle sessions can be done at one of the many beautiful outdoor locations around the DMV or simply document your family doing an everyday activity like cooking dinner together or playing games. I think posed portraits are important but sometimes it is the moments that are not so perfect that are just as special to remember. Furry family members, of all breeds, are always welcome to join.

MATERNITY pORTRAITS

Many of my family portrait clients start their relationship working with me on maternity portraits. It is best to schedule these sessions for when you are approximately thirty weeks pregnant. This way your belly shows, but it is still comfortable for you to move around and feel good posing. Of course, every women grows at a different rate and this time can be vary slightly from one person to another. Maternity sessions can be scheduled at any location of your choice or inside your home. These photos are a great way to remember and celebrate this period of time as well as document your already existing family before the new arrival.

My newborn photography service is focused more on lifestyle images rather than studio images. These sessions are done inside your home where you already have everything you need to make your baby comfortable. We can use your home and nursery to help personalize your images and make them a documentation, not only of how cute your new arrival is, but of your family during this time experiencing the joy of this time. These sessions cannot be scheduled directly ahead of time because we do not know the exact arrival date. I have my clients reach out to me once the baby arrives and we can then schedule a weekday session. I suggest reaching out to me before to gather information and plan the session so I know your expected delivery date and can plan accordingly. For true newborn photos it is best to do these in the first two weeks of life but they can be done to capture any stage of early life until one year.
